At Carrdus, as part of our commitment to the development of STEM, we want every child to be able to use technology confidently and creatively, to have a really good understanding of how it works and to use it safely. Not only do our children become digitally literate, but they learn to program and create programs, helping them to become articulate and to think logically.
In the Lower School children learn what algorithms are, how to create and debug simple programs, to develop logical reasoning skills and to take their first steps in using devices to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content. In the Upper School children learn to create and debug more complicated programs, to use websites and other internet services and to use devices to collect, analyse and present back data and information.
E safety is a major part of our computing curriculum and all staff and children are required to understand and adopt ‘Safe Use of ICT’ practices.
